Dr. Thomas Skafidas received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, Edwardsville in 1977. He completed a General Practice residency at the Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After receiving his Orthodontics Certificate from Emory University in 1987, Dr. Skafidas served on the faculty until the program was closed.
Dr. Skafidas is a member of numerous professional organizations including The American Association of Orthodontists, The Southern Association of Orthodontists, The American Board of Orthodontics, The International and American College of Dentists, The College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, The American Dental Association and The Hinman Dental Society.
Dr. Skafidas has held numerous leadership positions. He is a past president of the Emory Orthodontic Alumni Association, The Georgia Association of Orthodontists and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Skafidas served as a director to the Southern Association of Orthodontists and on the Executive Coucil of The Northern District Dental Society. He was a faculty member at the Emory University of Orthodontic department and held teaching positions in the US Army and at Forsyth Technical Institute in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He served as Program Director for the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics preparatory courses at state, regional and national levels.
Today, Dr. Skafidas works in Buckhead, enjoys running, reading, snow skiing, and is an avid history buff. Two of his favorite places to ski are Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Big Sky, Montana. Lone Peak at Big Sky is featured on the Home page of our website.
